2019 Trainer Survey Results

As our mission states, we seek to inspire positive, creative change in American death practices. Trainers and their training programs play an important part in this mission. We asked our trainer members who they are and what they need from NEDA to help create the change we all work for. More than 50% of our trainers responded.

Ideas, Suggestions, Comments

Our trainers had many ideas for what services NEDA could offer in the future:
  • Networking among teachers, conferences featuring trainers, monthly call in discussion group, trainer only webinars, online courses, business development ideas
  • Conscious Dying, Veteran care
  • Education regarding EOLD work to the general public, about legal, competency, and regulatory changes within EOL care and its relationship to EOL Doulas
  • Guest speakers outside of NEDA membership -
  • How to collaborate with the many non-medical care givers organizations about doula work i.e. Comfort Keepers, Visiting Angels
  • I would like to see NEDA in the news more.
  • Member benefit = Discount for professional liability insurance (CMF Group Insurance is a good bet for U.S. and probably for Canadian members)
  • More networking with mainstream agencies and media
  • Referrals to enrich EOLD in the south central region of the contiguous states. Concerns regarding overlapping professional organizations are valid and decrease the value of the individual organizations
  • Training program stamp of approval
  • Updates to the test as new legislation transpires especially relating to the different states. Perhaps updating the test and also offering a short webinar or e-mail to those who have already taken the test, just so that everybody stays up to speed with the movement.

Comments On How NEDA Can Improve

Here is what NEDA can do to improve our trainers' experience:
  • I think you are all doing a wonderful job! I believe it is always good to be looking at leadership and cultivating/supporting new leaders. The industry is changing and the "old guard" must whole-heartedly support new aspiring leaders, and trainers. I would also like to see less of a perceived separation between trainers and membership, meaning that trainers and members alike have the same value for their contribution.
  • Not sure at this time
  • I think NEDA is doing a fantastic job
  • It would be great to get replies to my emails. I have contacted several times about wanting to help with the conference. I hold retreats and I’m get with social media and I want this to be a successful event.
  • At present I am unable to answer as the interactions I have had with NEDA, through the website and emails, have been positive and have answered my needs at the time.
  • I am grateful for all the work that has been done and will continue to be done.
  • It's been a pleasure and enormously helpful to watch NEDA develop and grow. I have felt the entire profession become more cohesive and act as an integral part of the end of life platform. I look forward to continued education that promotes these things.
  • I'm not sure, since I'm a new member.
  • I'm not dissatisfied with my experience with NEDA thus far.
  • Offer webinars that can be included in doula training programs
  • Activities that will support our membership nationally as we have noted expansion internationally
  • Increase the public knowledge of EOLDs
  • Provide a platform to explain the different types of trainings
  • Nothing! Love you guys!
  • Nothing that I know of. I just joined and have not had a lot of time to check things out. I'm very glad you're here.
  • I am happy!
  • Can't think of anything
  • Improve our national presence and networking with other organizations.
