Building Our EOLD Community

Regional end-of-life doula groups are forming
Are you interested in starting one?

NEDA would like to help you by publicizing your group or gathering(s) here. We want to help others find you and join in. There is much work to be done to get the word out about EOLDs, and many of us are eager to meet and learn from each other, as well as collaborate.

Start a study group. Form a collective. Host educational events. The possibilities are endless.

Together we are strong and can bring more services to more people as we develop our profession! We look forward to hearing from groups all over the country (and maybe even elsewhere!).

Download our 10 Tips for Hosting an EOLD Gathering in Your Community to see how easy it is to create networking opportunities close to home. The guide helps you figure out:
  • Who your Group or Gathering is for: study groups, regional support groups, collectives
  • What you plan to accomplish: networking, educating, planning
  • What partners to look for: financial, organizational, and other support
  • How to maximize participation: using publicity outlets to reach practitioners in related fields
  • And much more!

"My heart is so full after hosting a group of 20 End-of-Life Doulas for an informal gathering during the Association for Death Educators and Counselors annual conference in Atlanta this year.  It was inspiring to hear about the work doulas are doing across the world as we had a few international doulas as well!  We talked abut what we are experiencing in our communities and ways to bridge our work.  I even heard a few brainstorming ideas for future projects! A gathering of this type shows that we are stronger together and in community than we are alone."
— Alua Arthur, Grassroots Event Organizer, ADEC conference, April 2019

"There is no substitute for being present face-to-face and heart-to-heart in this work, however you approach it. With a handful of willing helpers and a sponsor organization to help get the word out, we created a rich, informative day of connection and renewal. Community comes in many forms, and we experienced several on this day. Bringing New Englanders together was a big deal for us. It's not easy getting across the mountains and valleys of Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont, and New Hampshire, but we did it and can't wait to do it again."
— Lee Webster, Coordinator and Facilitator, NE EOL Practitioners Gathering, Dover, NH, May 19, 2019
